Our 156th all-university Commencement ceremony took place May 19, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. in Brookings Quadrangle.

2017 Chancellor’s Address

“Our new graduates have learned the value of a strong community, of working in teams, and working to strengthen the world around them. Our graduates are not the “me” generation, they are the “we” generation. Together, we can change the world for the better.”

 

2017 Commencement Address Speaker –
Anna Quindlen

Anna Quindlen, a best-selling author, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and social critic, delivered the 2017 Commencement address. During the Commencement ceremony, Quindlen also received an honorary doctor of humane letters degree.

2017 Graduate Student Wei Zhu’s Address

“Ten years ago, when I first arrived in the United States, I had no idea that an opportunity like Washington University would be in my future. I’m so humbled to be surrounded by the most intelligent, energetic and knowledgeable colleagues and faculty members.”
