2015 Making Memories

Throwback Thursday: First day of school, Aug. 30, 2011

Will-Ralls

The First Year Center invited freshmen to write notes home on the first day of school. “Mine was an inside joke. If I forgot to check in in high school, my mom would call and say, ‘Just wanted to see if you are still alive,’” said senior Will Ralls.

It’s 1,353 days after the first day of school for the Class of 2015, and Washington University in St. Louis senior Will Ralls is amazed by the unexpected course of his college career. He came ready to major in computer science and political science and he did. The rest — serving as a residential advisor in Liggett/Koenig Residential College, junior class president and founding member of Alpha Delta Phi fraternity — he could not have imagined.

“That first day is such a blur, but I remember being crazy excited,” Ralls said. “When I came here, I actually told myself I would not get involved in student government. And starting a new chapter of a fraternity was something I didn’t think I would be interested in at all. Many of the things that made my time here so exciting just happened organically.”
